Platelet-Rich Plasma Overview
ReviveMD Center offers platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments for patients. PRP is noninvasive and effective for a variety of conditions. What Is PRP?
Your blood is made up of:
- White Blood Cells
- Red Blood Cells
- Platelets
- Plasma
Platelets are tiny cell fragments that bind together when they find damaged blood vessels. By working together, platelets form blood clots. They also contain growth factors that promote healing.
Plasma is the fluid component of your blood. It carries the white and red blood cells and platelets throughout the body.
PRP therapy is the process of using your platelets to help you heal. A provider uses platelets that are suspended in plasma and injects them into your body. The platelets are injected directly into a target area and quickly get to work to promote healing.
How Is PRP Made?
PRP is all-natural and comes from your blood. To begin, your provider will draw a small amount of your blood. The provider places the small vial of blood into a centrifuge machine. The machine separates and isolates the plasma. Then, the provider uses the plasma to treat your condition.
What Is PRP Used For?
PRP is used for esthetic treatments, hair restoration, and pain management. Learn more about the different options at ReviveMD Center. Also, reach out to ReviveMD Center if you’d like to learn more about treating your condition with PRP.
PRP Esthetics Treatments
Aging is a normal part of life. As you grow older, you will develop fine lines and wrinkles and your skin can lose volume and elastin. These imperfections can hurt your self-esteem. In the past, you had to undergo expensive and dangerous surgery to reverse the signs of aging. Now, you can use PRP therapy to turn back the clock. Men and women are now getting PRP facials, fillers, and facelifts with the purpose of reversing some of the signs of aging.
PRP Facial with exosome therapy
PRP facials are used to reverse the signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles, that occur on the face as people grow older. A PRP facial has two components. First, ReviveMD Center uses microneedling to create micro-injuries on the surface of the skin. Then, the medical professional uses PRP to promote healing. The platelets penetrate your skin, reaching and healing the underlying tissue. By promoting natural healing, your skin will look and feel younger. Best of all, the results can continue to improve over several months. our protocol at Revive MD center includes addition of fibroblast rich stromal cells to all treatments followed an intensive regimen with CO2 lift masks and Defenage medical grade home care.
Some of the skin issues PRP can treat include:
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Moderate wrinkles
• Stretch marks
• Uneven skin tone
• Enlarged pores
• Acne breakouts and scarring
• Hyperpigmentation
• Irregular skin texture
Non Surgical Facelift using PRP Injections and Fillers
Many people get dermal fillers to treat volume loss caused by aging. Fillers can treat volume loss in the cheeks, under the eyes, and more. Dermal fillers are also used to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. ReviveMD Center combines PRP therapy with dermal fillers to improve the results. The doctor injects the filler and the PRP separately, but they work together to promote a younger look. When you combine dermal fillers with PRP, the results can last much longer. Also, PRP can treat issues that standard dermal fillers cannot, including uneven texture. If you are looking to improve signs of aging or your complexion, it may be optimal to consider PRP injections and exosome biologics as fillers.
PRP Facelift with Exosomes
If you have mild to moderate signs of aging and don’t want to undergo a surgical facelift, a PRP facelift with exosomes could be the answer for you. This procedure boosts your skin’s natural healing processes and can correct a variety of issues without surgery. A PRP facelift with exosomes can tighten your skin, smooth the skin tone, and fill in fine lines and wrinkles. Because the treatment stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, the results are long-lasting and get better over time.
PRP and exosomes for Hair Restoration Therapy
In the past, hair transplants were the only effective treatment for hair loss. Many people were not willing to undergo the painful and expensive procedure. PRP hair restoration therapy is a solution for those who want to restore their hair. The therapy stimulates hair follicles, so they grow. Those with thinning hair should notice a significant difference after undergoing a PRP treatment. Because it’s more affordable and comfortable than hair transplants, many believe that PRP and exosome hair restoration will soon become a leading method for restoring thinning hair. Stem Cells and Exosomes added to PRP help rejuvenate and “wake up” those hair follicles that have slowed down their ability to grow hair. After the treatment, hair follicles are expected to restart their natural growing process.
What is the process while using Stem Cell Exosomes for hair restoration?
We first begin by cleaning the area that will be treated. Secondly, we prepare the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) by drawing your own blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets, your own stem cells, from the red blood cells. The PRP can be injected by itself or in combination with a allogenic mesenchymal stromal cell injections and Exosomes. When using the combination of both, the PRP acts as a “scaffold” to help hold the Exosomes in place and enhance the effectiveness of the Exosomes. While the PRP will provide acceptable results for many, the combination of PRP and the Exosomes provide a far more effective means of stimulating the follicles.
PRP Pain Management for Soft Tissue and Joint Injury
Soft tissue and joint injuries are common for athletes as well as middle-aged and elderly people. Injuries can be caused by trauma or overuse over the years. PRP therapy is noninvasive, so people can begin the road to recovery without undergoing a dangerous surgical procedure. Currently, PRP is used for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including rotator cuff tears, tendonitis, and arthritis. From overuse to trauma-related injuries, this therapy has proven effective in providing pain relief and promoting healing. Also, due to the long-term results, it can increase people’s quality of life tremendously. This is not a Band-Aid solution. Instead, PRP allows the body to heal from the injury.
What to Expect After Undergoing PRP for Soft Tissue and Joint Injuries
It’s not uncommon to feel a slight increase in pain immediately following PRP therapy for soft tissue and joint injuries. This is due to the inflammatory response. The injection site might swell up, making the body part feel tight and painful. This normally goes away within 48 hours. At this point, most people notice that they feel much better than they did prior to the treatment. People typically continue to feel improvement for weeks or months after undergoing treatment, and the results can last for up to a year. Many patients report that they are completely pain-free after the treatment.
It can take years for the body to completely heal, meaning that the pain can come back. To prevent that, ReviveMD Center creates a treatment schedule. The right treatment schedule can prevent the pain from coming back. For example, some people choose to get treatments every six months. Between treatments, ReviveMD Center evaluates the healing process.
Once the soft tissue or joint is healed, you may not need additional PRP injections. Your doctor will help you decide how many treatments you need and when it is safe to stop PRP therapy.
Preparing for PRP Therapy
Unlike a surgical procedure, you don’t have to take many steps to prepare for PRP therapy at ReviveMD Center. Your doctor will go over the medications you’re taking and make adjustments before the treatment. Some medications can interfere with PRP therapy, so you need to avoid them to optimize the results.
You should not take corticosteroid medications for two weeks before the therapy. You also need to stop anticoagulation medications and anti-inflammatory drugs for a week before the procedure.
It’s also important that you are hydrated before undergoing PRP. Drink lots of fluids, so your doctor can easily draw the blood needed for the therapy.
