IPL and Laser Services

ReviveMD Center in Richmond VA can help you meet your overall cosmetic goals. Through intense pulse therapy (IPL) and laser treatments we can address a variety of undesired skin issues including unwanted hair, spider veins, discolored or damaged skin and age spots. Our procedures are designed to target the problem area specifically, without damaging surrounding healthy skin and tissue. The treatments have few to no side effects, and with minimal recovery time.

We use Spectrum Intense pulsed light (IPL) to perform various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic uses including hair removal, photo-rejuvenation, the removal and reduction of vascular and pigmented lesions and the reduction of active acne.

The technology utilizes a broad spectrum light-source, with a general spectral range of 400 to 1200 nm. Various cutoff filters are placed in front of the light-source to filter the undesired frequencies and allow the desired wavelength to target specific structures and chromophores in the skin.

The Spectrum Nd:YAG laser penetrates through the skin and is readily absorbed by hemoglobin and melanin chromophores (veins and vascular lesions). The Laser light is delivered through the skin and into the vein. After heating, the vein walls collapse and seal shut. The sealed vein is then broken down and absorbed by the body.

The Spectrum Long Pulsed Yag removes unsightly facial veins and small vascular lesions from any area of the body. Treatments can be performed quickly and without bruising. In addition, spider veins and large blue leg veins (3mm and under) can also be treated with Spectrum Long Pulsed Yag, yielding excellent results.

About IPL Laser

Lasers concentrate light energy to create heat. Depending on the type of laser, the setting strength, and the chosen applicator, that controlled energy heats or vaporizes targeted skin cells. The results are impressive, especially when you consider that laser therapy requires no incisions, anesthetics, or surgical intervention. Laser services can address the following conditions.
  • Unwanted hair
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne scarring
  • General scarring
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Skin texture irregularities
  • Spider veins
As advancements in laser technology continue, you can expect even more aesthetic applications in the years to come.
Laser therapy sends energy to the deeper layers of your skin, where it creates just enough heat to injure the targeted tissues. Those tiny injuries prompt your natural healing response, including the production of new collagen. The newly formed layer of collagen works to replace some of the collagen that’s lost during the aging process. As a result, your skin is plumper, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and giving you a more rested and youthful appearance.
Photorejuvenation is a laser procedure that addresses multiple skin issues in one simple and relatively swift treatment, although several sessions might be necessary to achieve optimal results. The Icon fractional laser system delivers pulses of concentrated light beams, which penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin. The light pulverizes areas of irregular pigmentation, breaking the melanin or hemoglobin into tiny particles that your body can absorb and eliminate. Treatments can reduce the appearance of:
  • Spider veins
  • Sunspots
  • Rosacea
  • Age spots
Laser hair removal sends light energy into targeted hair follicles, where the resulting heat permanently damages the follicle to prevent regrowth. The Icon laser system delivers pulses of light over a larger treatment area than some other laser platforms. That allows your practitioner to treat larger areas like your arms, back, and legs in just minutes. As the laser moves across the treatment area, you might feel a sensation similar to the snap of a rubber band as the laser pulses but most men and women tolerate laser hair removal treatments very well.
