So, how would a combination treatment work? Essentially, the steps for each treatment would be the same. The process for this treatment is overall very simple. A sterile specialized blade will be used to gently scrape dead skin cells and peach fuzz (vellus hairs) from the surface of your skin, which will leave your skin smooth. The blade will be used on all areas of your face, including the forehead, cheeks, chin, and just below the jaw area.
After the blade has removed dead skin cells and fine hairs from the skin surface, your skin will be gently wiped to remove any lingering debris. One of the most important things you can do is avoid using certain chemicals on the skin, including other chemical exfoliants that may be part of your daily skincare routine. You should also avoid direct sunlight to avoid skin irritation before your treatment.
After your combination treatment, your skin will be very vulnerable because the top layers of skin cells have been removed from the skin surface. For this reason, you should follow two cardinal rules: keep your skin moist and keep your skin protected. Ideally, you should use a light moisturizer at least twice a day to keep your skin hydrated as new cells turn over.
You should wear SPF 30 or higher during the daytime, even if you don’t plan to be outside. Even sitting near a window can mean UV rays from the sun touch your skin. While unprotected exposure to sunlight can certainly burn your skin, exposure to UV rays can also cause premature aging in new skin cells. For the best results, wearing SPF daily will protect your skin.
By itself, you can see dermaplaning results on the same day as your treatment. This exfoliation treatment reduces skin dullness immediately and will encourage blood flow to the surface of the skin.
